Sirui Liu was trained at Shanghai Dance School affiliated to Shanghai Theater Academy from 2000-2007, going on to the Shanghai Dance College of Shanghai Theater Academy for four years. The desire to expand her dance horizons led Liu to audition for and be accepted into Cincinnati Ballet upon graduation, for which she left her school and family in China. Liu won a gold medal competing in senior group of Ballet of the Ninth "Taolibei" National Dance Competition in China in 2009, and the gold medal of senior group of Beijing International Ballet Invitational in China in 2010. She has enjoyed dancing roles in Swan Lake, Giselle, Le Corsaire, Don Quixote and Symphony in C. Sirui competed in 2014’s USA International Ballet Competition, progressing to the third and final round. She is enjoying learning and improving as much as possible with Cincinnati Ballet and has been promoted to Soloist for the 15-16 Season.
Fun fact: Sirui loves to travel and has visited nearly every state in the United States! “If I wasn’t a dancer, I’d be a flight attendant so I could travel more and visit other countries!”
