Josh Bodden can attest to the power of education outreach. When his elementary school saw a student matinee of The Nutcracker at Miami City Ballet in 1995, Bodden saw three African-American women in the company, sparking an interest in being on stage, too. After calling Miami City Ballet School to enroll himself, his mother took note, and Bodden has been dancing ever since. Bodden danced with the Miami City Ballet and Dance Theater of Harlem prior to joining Cincinnati Ballet. Bodden was the first African-American male to dance the ballet male role in Twyla Tharp’s In the Upper Room, and enjoys being part of such a diverse company.
Fun fact: Josh has a cat he loves named Sevyn.
