Cervilio Miguel Amador

Cervilio Amador studied at the Vocational Ballet School in his hometown of Camgüey, Cuba and the National Ballet School in Havana. Initially athletic and interested in playing the saxophone, Amador's parents gently nudged him towards ballet at the age of nine and he's been hooked ever since. Before joining Cincinnati Ballet in 2004 as a Soloist, he danced with the National Ballet of Cuba as corps de ballet dancer and demi soloist. "I love it. It's like an addiction. It's a really hard career, but it becomes this passion. You just need it,” says Amador, now in his ninth year as a Principal Dancer with Cincinnati Ballet. In 2015, Amador was invited for the third time to dance at the TITAS Command Performance Gala in Dallas, Texas with fellow Principal Janessa Touchet. “I feel so honored to get to perform with the stars of the ballet world,” says Amador.

Fun fact: “I threw the first pitch for the Reds and it made ESPN top best plays of the week! If I wasn’t a dancer I would have loved to be a soccer player, baseball player, a singer or musician.”
