The Story Behind Somewhere Close To Happiness

April 19, 2017

When she first heard the soundtrack of The Elephant Man, Victoria Morgan fell in love with its sparse, percussive sound. In the spirit of innovation that defines The Kaplan New Works Series, she decided to challenge herself to expand upon her neoclassical style of choreography.

Somewhere Close to Happiness follows the story of The Broken One, an outsider without a place in society. The Chosen One, curious about this newcomer, realizes the confines of her sheltered existence and begins to test her boundaries. Yet things are never quite so simple, and The Family is determined to maintain the status quo.
