What will Cincinnati Ballet be performing at The Joyce?

Cincinnati Ballet makes its Joyce debut during its 50th Anniversary Season with three New York City premieres that are as sensuous as they are virtuosic.  Performances include Hummingbird in a Box, featuring seven brand new compositions by Grammy Award-winning guitarist Peter Frampton; Chasing Squirrel, an audacious and eccentric work by the ever-surprising Trey McIntyre; and a new ballet by Val Caniparoli which gracefully intertwines live musicians performing Paganini’s Violin Caprices into the heart of the choreographer’s robust and technically inventive movement style.

Special Saturday evening ticket packages including a ticket to the Saturday, May 10 at 8 pm performance and exclusive after party at the Maritime Hotel are now available for $175. The Saturday evening ticket package is available exclusively through Cincinnati Ballet.

Are there any special events being held in conjunction with Cincinnati Ballet’s Joyce performances?
Yes! On Saturday, May 10 at 10 pm, after the 8 pm performance, Cincinnati Ballet dancers, staff and guests will party the night away at an exclusive gathering at the Maritime Hotel. Interested in attending? Buy tickets here. Please note that the after party is limited to guests over 21 years of age.

Also, if you plan to see Cincinnati Ballet at The Joyce earlier in the week on Wednesday, May 7, stay with us after the curtain goes down for a post-performance dialogue with Artistic Director and CEO Victoria Morgan. This Dance Chat is part of The Joyce’s Dance Education Program.

I’m traveling from Cincinnati. Are there group travel arrangements being made?
Due to the number of travelers coming from various organizations and at different times throughout the week, all individuals are making their own travel and accommodation arrangements.

Where should I stay? Are there group rates available at area hotels?
The Joyce Theater is located in the Chelsea area of Manhattan (175 Eighth Avenue, New York, NY) and guests are welcome to select whichever hotel suits their travel needs. Because of the varying needs of travelers, no group rates have been arranged.

Are there restaurants close to The Joyce where we can dine before or after the performance?
The Joyce has cultivated special partnerships with a variety of eateries within the neighborhood. Please click here to find out more.

I’ve heard other organizations from Cincinnati will be in New York at the same time. How can I get more information about their events?
You’re right! In fact, many of Cincinnati’s arts organizations and community leaders will be involved in events throughout the week in New York City including a performance of the May Festival Chorus and Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra at Carnegie Hall on Friday, May 9. How do you get to Carnegie Hall? Practice, practice, practice. How do you find out more about what Cincinnati organizations are doing in New York? Click here for more information.
