Essential foundations for success on pointe
Promotion to pointe work is an exhilarating turning point in every young dancer’s development. Cincinnati Ballet’s Pointe Workshop is designed to support students recently promoted to pointe work make a fun, safe and successful transition. By building essential strength, ensuring proper placement and establishing a strong technical foundation, the Pointe Workshop prepares young dancers both body and mind to move into this inspiring yet demanding phase of their classical training. Throughout the workshop, Cincinnati Ballet faculty guide students through the fundamentals of pointe readiness including where to sew ribbons and elastic, how to properly tie ribbons, how to break in new pointe shoes as well as how to strengthen the body and feet to reduce the risk of injury. Students also work through beginning pointe exercises with a focus on individual attention and proper placement.

For Summer 2019, Cincinnati Ballet’s Pointe Workshop is fully incorporated into the first week of our Division II Youth Summer Intensive for a more cohesive and in-depth training experience. Please visit the Youth Summer Intensive webpage for further details.
