“I started dancing when I was three,” says Naomi Hergott, Trainee. “My mom took me to a summer ballet camp and I fell in love with it the first day.” Hergott is from Augusta, Georgia, where she trained with Ron Jones and Jessica Bailey. At 15, she moved to Atlanta to train with Maniya Barredo and Andrea Pell. Hergott attended summer programs with Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, Kaatsbaan, Chautauqua, and Houston Ballet, danced with Philippine Ballet Theatre in Manila over the summer of 2011, and danced with Colorado Ballet’s studio company for two years. Hergott danced the role of Juliet in Tom Pazik’s Romeo & Juliet while with Philippine Ballet Theatre, and says of that experience: “I am so grateful to have experienced total role immersion at that age, because for me, that was when I realized how passionate and life-changing ballet can be for both the dancers and the audience.” Hergott loves all the “dramatic and tragic” ballets including Swan Lake, Manon, Romeo & Juliet and Giselle. She is most looking forward to Cincinnati Ballet’s production of Swan Lake during the 2013-2014 50th Anniversary Season. “Ballet allows us to express ourselves in a way that day-to-day life does not,” says Hergott.
Fun Fact: Naomi’s favorite band is Mumford and Sons.
