Maizyalet Velázquez was born in Puerto Rico and trained with Ballet Concierto there. She graduated from the Virginia School of the Arts in 2007, where she studied under David Keener and the late Petrus Bosman. Mai returns to Cincinnati Ballet as a full-time company member after having spent the 2007-08 season as a Trainee. She enjoys working with Cincinnati Ballet because it offers the opportunity to perform both classical and contemporary repertoire.
