Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, Zack Grubbs was introduced to ballet to enrich his gymnastic education. Beginning his professional dance training at Tuzer Ballet, under the direction of Patricia and Tanju Tuzer, he supplemented his training at Pacific Northwest Ballet, The School of American Ballet, Pennsylvania Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, the Kirov Academy, and Boston Ballet. After attending the University of Utah, where he danced with the Utah Ballet under the direction of Attila Ficzere, Zack danced professionally with the Boston Ballet for four years.
After joining Cincinnati Ballet in 2002 as a corps de ballet member, he was promoted to soloist in 2005 and senior soloist in 2008. Zack has also performed in several operas with the Santa Fe Opera in 1999, the Opera Theatre of Saint Louis in 2005 and the Cincinnati Opera in 2007. He acknowledges Tanju Tuzer as his professional mentor and his mother for her boundless support of his career. Outside of dance, Zack and his wife, Connie, love spending as much time as they can with their baby girl, Quincy Elizabeth.
