Courtney began her dance training in California at the age of three. After moving to North Carolina she attended several dance schools, eventually graduating from North Carolina School of the Arts. For her summer studies, she has attended National Ballet of Canada, San Francisco Ballet, School of American Ballet, Boston Ballet and Houston Ballet. In the summer of 2009 she traveled to Russia and performed the roles of Giselle, Blue Bird and Generosity Fairy (The Sleeping Beauty), Big Swan (Swan Lake), the Bull (Carmen), Spanish (The Nutcracker). “Going to Russia and dancing there for two and a half months changed my approach to dancing and strengthened my technique,” she says.
